What Logos does
Logos is a tech company that builds tools to help churches and Christians study the Bible. Its work falls into three areas: software, community collaboration and digital content. The company is based in Bellingham, Washington, and also has operations in Chandler, Arizona and Puebla, Mexico.
The team says its mission is to increase biblical literacy and make the Bible more accessible to Christians everywhere. You don’t have to share a particular faith background to apply, as far as the listing says, but you’ll be working on products built around that mission, so it helps to feel good about it.
About the Data Scientist (US) at Logos role
This Data Scientist (US) at Logos sits in the Analytics team and works as a peer to the Staff Data Scientist. Between the two of you, you own the data science function: predictive modeling, experimentation and recommendations that affect how hundreds of thousands of customers find and use the products.
The listing is direct about what kind of person they want. You decide how to approach a problem, which method fits, and what isn’t worth doing. They’re a lean team in the middle of a big data transformation, so there’s no one waiting to hand you a to-do list. And they say plainly they’re results-driven, not academic. If a model doesn’t reduce churn, raise usage or bring in revenue, it doesn’t count as a win.
What the work looks like day to day
- Own projects end to endYou frame the problem, pick the method, model it, validate it and present to the leaders who’ll act on it.
- Ship real data productsModels, scores and features go out production-ready so other teams can build on them.
- Run experimentsYou design them, size them and give an honest read, even when the result is inconclusive.
- Build the pipelinesPython or R, SQL and dbt on Databricks.
- Shape the roadmapYou help set priorities with the Staff Data Scientist and the Director, including pushing back when a request won’t add value.
- Work with Data ChampionsThese are analysts embedded in business teams. You make sure your output actually gets used.
- Check data qualityYou work with the Data Platform team on the reliability of upstream data.
- Mentor othersYou support analysts and newer colleagues, and help with code review and team standards.
- Document your workYour code and notes should be clear enough that a colleague can pick them up without you.

Why this role could be worth a look
Logos describes data science there as small, which means your work isn’t one input among dozens. It’s the data science capability of the company. You’d get room to shape how the function runs, a Staff Data Scientist to think alongside, and a Director who backs your judgment. The scope grows as the team and the company’s data maturity grow.
That’s a real draw if you like ownership. It’s also a lot of responsibility for someone who prefers clear direction, so be honest with yourself before applying.
