Sardine is looking for a Payroll Specialist to look after pay for people in the United States, Canada and Lithuania, along with contractors and EOR workers. It’s one of those remote jobs USA applicants search for when they want real ownership of a function instead of a narrow data-entry seat. The listing is open to both US and Canadian residents, so Canadian payroll experience is a hard requirement.

About Sardine
Sardine builds risk software that helps companies fight fraud and financial crime. They say their network covers more than 6 billion devices, 800 million consumers and 3 million businesses, and names like FIS, GoDaddy, Intuit, Edward Jones, ZoomInfo and Checkout.com use it.
The team is remote-first. Pay is based on where you live, and you need to keep a home base in the country you’re hired in. So it’s flexible within your country, not a take-the-laptop-anywhere arrangement.

Is the Payroll Specialist – US/Canada role really a work from home job?
Yes. Sardine is remote-first and has no office you report to. The one catch is that you have to live in the US or Canada and keep a home base in the country where you’re hired, so this is flexible inside your country, not work from anywhere in the world.
Do I need Canadian payroll experience?
Yes, Sardine says Canadian payroll experience is required. Extra international experience is a bonus. If you’ve only ever run US payroll, this one probably isn’t the right fit, but there are plenty of other remote jobs USA readers can browse on our category page.
Which payroll tools will I be working with?
The listing names Rippling and Deel for payroll and EOR work, Fidelity for the 401k and Wealthsimple on the Canadian side. Carta also comes up for equity awards, so some familiarity helps.
What does this WFH job pay?
The posting doesn’t show a salary range. It mentions generous compensation in cash and equity, and says pay depends on where you’re located. It’s worth asking for the range in your first call.
