Underwriting Model Signals — Illustrative

Job4Pak surfaces this listing because remote data science roles inside regulated finance and insurance companies rarely appear on general job boards — they’re usually filled through specialist recruiters. This one blends underwriting risk modeling, causal inference, and production ML, which makes it a strong reference role for anyone building a data science career path toward fintech or insurtech.

About the Role

For this client — a leader in the Finance & Insurance space — the Data Scientist will turn data into practical insight that improves visibility, decision-making, and business performance. The role partners with business, technical, and operational stakeholders to build reporting, surface trends, and translate analysis into action, strengthening data-driven execution within a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Guide product recommendations and model development for internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain predictive ML models to assess risks and opportunities in lending products
  • Participate in the end-to-end ML pipeline from data collection to model deployment, collaborating with engineers
  • Conduct experimentation and causal inference analyses to optimize conversion rates
  • Write code for inferential models and document modeling decisions using Confluence or GitHub
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate solution iteration and outcomes
  • Present model impacts and insights, drafting recommendations for product and underwriting improvement

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a related occupation
  • 2 years designing and implementing ML models for underwriting, propensity, or collections applications
  • Proficient in SQL, Python, and R for data analysis, modeling, and automation
  • Experience in product analytics and experimental design, including A/B testing and causal inference

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits plus savings plans
  • Mac computer and work-from-home stipend for home office setup
  • Monthly internet and phone reimbursement
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Tuition reimbursement program
  • $1,000 travel perk on each work anniversary
  • Competitive annual PTO and parental leave
Important for Pakistani applicants: this role is explicitly listed as remote, US-based candidates only, with no visa sponsorship available. It is shared here for visibility and reference, but international applicants without existing US work authorization are unlikely to be eligible. Please review the official listing before applying.
