Data Scientist – Remote Job in USA
At Lumenalta, we partner with forward-thinking organizations to build technology solutions that scale, delight users, and accelerate business growth. We’re seeking an experienced Data Scientist with a strong applied statistics background and deep supply chain domain knowledge to join an enterprise manufacturing client. This is a specific, presently open role — applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
What You’ll Work On
- Demand Forecasting: Build time-series models appropriate to supply chain variability, applying CV-based segmentation to classify materials by demand pattern (smooth, erratic, lumpy, intermittent).
- Demand Variability Analysis: Quantify forecast error across material master and movement data, identifying root causes and producing inputs planning teams can act on directly in SAP.
- Inventory Analytics: Develop inventory pre-positioning and health/trend monitoring (HTMS) analytics — safety stock recommendations, reorder point adjustments, and MRP parameter tuning.
- SAP ECC Data: Work directly with planning data — MD07 exception messages, purchase requisitions vs. PO receipts, and MRP-generated signals.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Translate domain knowledge into concrete model inputs alongside supply chain planners, procurement, and operations teams.
- Exploratory Data Analysis: Analyze SAP transactional data (MARC, MARD, EKKO/EKPO, purchase reqs) to uncover demand patterns and leading indicators.
- Databricks Workflows: Build and maintain analytical workflows using PySpark, SQL, and Notebooks — reproducible and handoff-ready.
- Modeling Standards: Establish best practices for validation, segmentation logic, and presenting interpretable, trusted findings.
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years in a Data Scientist or analytical role, building statistical models in supply chain, manufacturing, or industrial planning contexts.
- Strong applied statistics foundation — time-series forecasting (ARIMA, exponential smoothing, intermittent demand models), demand variability analysis, and CV-based segmentation.
- Working understanding of supply chain planning — MRP logic, purchase requisitions vs. PO receipts, safety stock, and reorder points.
- Hands-on Databricks experience — PySpark, Spark SQL, and Notebooks for reproducible analysis.
- Strong Python (scikit-learn, statsmodels, pandas) and SQL proficiency for large SAP transactional datasets.
- Ability to translate statistical outputs into planning-relevant language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
