While this role does not require deep technical expertise, it does require strong payroll domain knowledge, sound product judgment, and comfort leading product strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Setting product strategy and vision: Define and communicate a clear product vision for payroll that aligns with Patriot’s mission and business goals. Identify opportunities to modernize payroll workflows, simplify compliance-heavy experiences, and anticipate how customer needs will evolve over time. Translate long-term strategy into actionable roadmaps and near-term priorities.
Working closely with your Development and Design team: Ensure upcoming work is clearly defined and aligned with both short-term delivery goals and long-term product direction. Communicate the why behind decisions, help teams understand payroll-specific constraints, and identify opportunities to reduce recurring customer issues while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Developing a deep knowledge of the Customer: Engage directly with customers to understand how payroll impacts their business operations today, and how it should work in the future. Partner closely with Support, Stakeholders, and Training teams to identify persistent pain points and uncover opportunities for differentiation through better workflows, automation, or guidance.
Developing a deep knowledge of the Data: Define and track success metrics to evaluate payroll features and strategic initiatives. Use data to understand customer behavior, validate assumptions, and measure whether changes are improving accuracy, efficiency, and customer confidence. Leverage insights to guide prioritization and iteration.
Developing a deep knowledge of the Business: Build a strong understanding of Patriot Software’s payroll operations, compliance responsibilities, and cross-functional workflows. Partner with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Training, and Customer Support to ensure payroll strategy aligns with business objectives and regulatory realities.
Developing a deep knowledge of the Industry: Stay ahead of payroll regulations, tax changes, and industry trends. Monitor how competitors and adjacent platforms are evolving payroll experiences. Use this insight to help shape Patriot’s long-term payroll roadmap and ensure our product remains trusted, competitive, and forward-looking.
AI Mindset: Use AI tools to work more efficiently—researching regulations, analyzing patterns, synthesizing customer feedback, or drafting product artifacts. What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years in a SaaS Product Manager role
- Direct experience as a Product Manager working on payroll products
- Strong understanding of payroll concepts, workflows, and compliance requirements
- Experience setting product strategy, defining vision, and translating it into executable roadmaps
- Experience collaborating with development, design, and QA teams
- Working knowledge of Agile software development lifecycles and SaaS release management
- Proven record of delivering successful product launches and evolving products through iteration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and user feedback
- Comfort using AI tools in your day-to-day work and curiosity about how AI can enhance payroll experiences
- Self-directed, organized, and comfortable owning outcomes
- Strong interpersonal skills—empathetic, collaborative, and customer-focused
- Open-minded, humble, and a team player
- Excellent writing and communication skills
