Software Engineer

About the Role

Insight Global is hiring for Software Engineer, Data Engineer, and Data Scientist positions on an ongoing contract basis. There’s no specified end date — strong performance on projects means continuous placement on new assignments over time.

As a contractor, you’re paid a fixed weekly rate based on an estimated 60 hours per week while on an active assignment, regardless of actual hours worked. While not on assignment, you’re paid while on bench. This is a US remote role with approximately 80% travel to client sites, so comfort with consulting-style travel is required — all travel expenses are covered by the client.

What You’ll Do

• Translate business problems into engineering solutions.
• Contribute to the development and deployment of new and existing products.
• Write high-quality, production-ready code.
• Act as a core part of the product team, owning and driving product decisions.
• Participate in code reviews and paired-programming sessions.
• Build robust APIs within established frameworks.

What You’ll Need

• Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or related field.
• Strong grasp of application development and data pipeline concepts.
• At least 4 years of post-degree experience.
• Firm experience with Python and frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Comfort working with Kedro, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and MySQL/Postgres.
• A habit of advocating for the right tech for the right task, and staying current with new tools.
• Belief in iterative change and comfort experimenting with new approaches.
• Strong collaboration skills — able to set aside your own agenda to listen and learn from colleagues.
